Breasts, which are an important element of beauty and self-confidence for women, can cause serious health problems if they are larger than they should be. Large breasts, which can cause back, waist and neck pain, skin problems that can cause infections and even respiratory problems, cause the need for breast reduction surgery.
In the breast reduction operation, breast tissue, fat tissue and skin are treated at the same time. The brown tissue on the breast is removed and placed at the appropriate point of the lifted breast. The majority of breast reduction operations also include breast lift operation.
Breast reduction operation is a surgical operation that is performed while the patient is under general anesthesia and lasts approximately 3-4 hours. The patient is kept under observation in the hospital for one day after surgery. Threads obtained from organic materials and with melting properties are used in the sutures of breast operations. After a period of 7-14 days following the operation, the stitches begin to fuse.
After breast reduction surgeries, a special bra is recommended to be worn for 1 month. In some operations, different techniques can be applied to both breasts to ensure the symmetry of the two breasts. After the operation, the patient regains both an aesthetic appearance and health.
One of the important points in choosing the technique of breast reduction operation to be applied to female patients is the patient’s child plan for the future. Because some techniques applied may cause a decrease of up to 20% in the milk rate during breastfeeding.
Preserving the connection between the milk glands and the nipple while reducing the breast does not cause problems during breastfeeding. However, in cases with extremely large breasts, it may not be possible to both reduce the breasts sufficiently and maintain the connection. Therefore, if the patient has a plan to have children after the operation, she should definitely inform her doctor.
